The Heat Is On In Our State!!!

Happy last day of July...and it is hot and getting hotter this week! The kids enjoyed the pool and popsicles but..."Mom, it was more funner at the lake!" You can say that again! We came home for VBS this week...or as Teddy calls it "acation bible school".

The Best Way To Take Care Of Crumbs

As told to Grammy by Alisa..."the best way to get all the crumbs off the table...put them in your hands and then use your tongue...because it is wet and the crumbs will stick to your tongue." Grammy asked how she knew that..."Aunt Sara told me that."
What Grammy didn't see previously...were her three grandkids licking their crumbs off the table the other day...I believe they had had brownies! I am curious to know...did Aunt Sara lick the crumbs off the table too? Now aren't they smart!? Never waste a crumb...especially if it is chocolate!!! And never ever let Mommy see you swishing them on to the floor!!!

I wonder what it would be like to be a large, puffy white cloud

...with nothing to do all day but soak up the moisture and float away to another part of the world and rain on someone else's parade! HA HA HA! I took these pictures when we were on the boat the other day and the sky was beautiful! Ted picked out a great camera...I can't believe how clear the pics are coming out...and in the bright sunshine too! Today is beautiful again...only thing is...we're not at the lake...I am trying to be responsible and take care of the kids and home and such...
Oh for the only care in the world to be which direction to float and how puffy to be!

My Sweet Husband!

My sweet husband handed me some money the other day "just because" and I decided I would get something to wear! I really don't need clothes...and then I found this pretty beaded necklace and bracelet at the lake! It is so pretty and I can wear it with so many things! Thank you, sweetie! You do so many nice things for me...and thank you, Alisa, for clearing up the facts for us..."Sometimes you choose the nice things, Mommy, and sometimes Daddy chooses!" Where does she get these thoughts from? And who asked her anyway?

Look Ma...No Hands!

Deana was amusing herself while we waited for the guys to pull the rope in.
I amused myself playing with our new camera. Deana provided me with some great footage...
so did the guys! Hee, Hee

Last Weekend With Our Friends

We had such a great time with our friends....Terry and Deana....it was just adults and it was sooo much fun! Thanks you guys for coming!!! We will do it again!
Our captain and tour guide! We found Norm's Hideaway for a snack and potty stop. We thoroughly enjoyed the "over three hour tour!" (no fish were caught...maybe the whitecapping was to blame?)
Nice picture of Kari...thanks honey! But I wanted proof that I was there and working on my tan!

MMMMM...summer tastes so good!

Mom went to the "begeable stand" (Teddy's words) and picked up some of summer's best tasting treats! We ate in style up at the lake...one night just yummy begeables (for Mom and I) and the kids enjoyed the everloved hot dog!

"IF CERTIFICATES"

Teddy has had a rough time this week...testing his mother!
He found a cap gun at the general store yesterday and wanted to get it. I told him that "we would see" and that maybe he could use his gift certificate for that special toy.
Well...we left the lakehouse today without stopping to get it. "Mom, I want that little gun in the brown store...I want to use my "if certificate". Boy, did he name that right! I had to explain that when we do wrong things, we miss out on special things. I wonder if he will remember the whole scenario the next time we go to the "little brown store"!

Stopping to enjoy the flowers

I love to go outside and walk around and look at the flowers that are blooming in the gardens...it is a peaceful and quiet time to reflect on God's perfect design! All the plants that I had to transplant are growing beautifully and have such pretty blooms. They thrive with each watering and Miracle-gro application. Even in the heat, they still stand tall! What a good object lesson for me! I need that little reminder today...the heat of motherhood causes the hardiest plant to wither...thank goodness for the Living Water to refresh me!

I'm so proud to be called an American...

Our only picture of the festive day...way to go Mommy! Our first born had trouble with remembering which side her heart is on. Teddy's problem...not sure! Chevy on the table to see what crumbs were there...his new naughty dog trick. Thank goodness Alisa stepped up to the plate...lights, camera...and she'll have the action!

One little, two little, three little indians...

brown little indians at that! Grandma had the kids this morning while Mommy took Grammy on a field trip (hee, hee) and I ended up bringing three little indians home with me! It is always so much fun to go to Grandma's house (without Mommy being there)!

Little Miss Manners

Need a reminder or boost to your display of manners? Alisa is our resident "Miss Manners". I guess I should be grateful that she is learning what we are teaching her...they really do listen! It just aggravates her brother and sister and father and uncles and aunt and grandparents...they sometimes barely have a chance to do or say something before Miss Manners pipes up with the appropriate response! This year in kindergarten should be very interesting for her teacher...an assistant that is five years old!

The girls are not invited to go fishing anymore...

There is a great difference between the sexes which we all know...and appreciate. However, this appreciation no longer encompasses the sport of fishing in our family. Ted put his foot down after the timely demise of "Spotty"!
In our attempt to have a wonderful family time on the boat on Ted's day off...we were faced with the differences that our girls bring to the family. We took breakfast and three fishing poles and toured the lake looking for fish. Ted had a good lure and we hooked a striper bass, which the girls looked at and immediately named "Spotty". They loved Spotty and played with him and took him for a swim (he was on the stringer). Well, when Ted took Spotty and layed him out on the board to fillet him...Teddy cried and the girls were none too happy either. "We don't like fish and we won't eat fish!"
The day before, the guys (only) went out and caught six fish and the kids watched the whole process...touching the skin, poking the eye, and numerous other brave moves.
Ted announced that girls will not go fishing again...we don't name the fish...they are for dinner! Girls!
Now Ted has to re-educate Teddy in the finer points of the sport!

There is no place like...

...home...lakehouse...I can't decide which place is my favorite right now! We have such fun at the lakehouse and I am so glad it only takes us 45 minutes to get there! We spent the 4th of July up there and enjoyed the pool, golf cart parade, campfire, ice cream, pool, naps, reading a good book, coffee, rainstorms, boat ride, pool, fishing, shopping, pool, eating, and lots of cuddles...cause we were with those that we love! The summer is going by so quickly...being at the lake makes time stand still...at least I never seem to know what day it is! We are truly thankful for the time that we have together as a family...so we came home again to be with Daddy for a few days and do laundry...till the next time we can go up...'cause the guys need to catch some more fish!!! Soon we shall have a mess of fish...enough for dinner!

More birthday fun from Uncle Paul and Aunt Carma

A remote control car can keep a little boy occupied for hours...as long as his big sisters don't bother him!
New dishes and food...we are eating like kings again! Chef Alisa and Chef Ashlynn are well on their way to the fast food business!

HAPPY JULY FIRST!

The front of the house is finished...except for gutters Ted says. I replanted with a variety of perennials from my friend and mother-in-law and from cuttings from other plants. It was so pretty with the lights on the other night...I took a picture. I have added more "stuff" since. We have our flags in the planter and our sign on the door...GOD BLESS AMERICA! I am thankful for this great country and the freedoms many have fought...and are fighting for today!

Storytime with Grammy before bed

It was a busy day of playing today...everyone is clean and ready for bed...now for a story.
Grammy is a good story reader isn't she ,Teddy!?!
