Enjoying Christmas Break with Cousins!

Teddy's first deer hunting experience

We spy with our little eyes...two little deer!  He is waiting for a bigger one!
We are smiling at you!  We loved getting the updates in our cozy little living room.
 He got one!  A 49 yard shot...then a 75 yard tracking...
"Son, you did something that your Dad has never done.  Good job, buddy!"  He is taking another try today (12/23) and tomorrow (12/24).  We were told that Mr. H heard Teddy mumbling that his family was going to eat proper organic meat this winter.  We are thankful for friends who take time to share fun things with our children!  What a neat experience for Teddy!

Christmas Vacation is here!

We enjoyed all the Christmas festivities around church and school!  We kept busy and have now crashed!  We can't believe how tired we are!
Engineering gingerbread houses in Science class!

 We had ball games.
 We got to babysit.

We had school projects...like showing the earth's core, mantle, and crust.
 We celebrated Ted's birthday.
We worked on cards as gifts.
We had a great Christmas program.
 We had fun Christmas parties.
We had our staff Christmas party.
We enjoyed Sunday dinner with cousins.
We've enjoyed Christmas treats and coffee.
Through it all....we are thankful for the reason for the season.  God gave His best for us and we are thankful to be able to give our best back to Him through the opportunities He sends our way each day.

First measurable snow of the year!

It was a beautiful scene as we went to church for our cantata!  The snow came down all day and evening services were cancelled.
Velle loves playing in the snow...but gets so wet and cold...
that she just lays and lets Alisa use the warm setting on the blow-dryer!
Waiting for Teddy to come in from snow blowing...
 cuddling to get warm...
a pretty night...a winter wonderland...made better by the return of Ted from Mexico safely and a day off school called early enough to stay up late and sleep in!
Now...it feels like it will soon be Christmas!  Snow...lights...and a cozy home.
Snow day fun...as they have gotten older...the forts have gotten fancier!

I like the Christmas season!

I have some very creative mothers in Kindergarten this year!  I have had some mothers come in and do special projects with our class...the 12 Days of Christmas for the days we are in school...and they have had some neat ideas!  Last week, we made Christmas trees two ways...and ate one!  Yesterday was Christmas cookie day.  Today, we made Christmas stockings.  These days remind me of the days spent at home with our little loves.  They loved all the special things we did...and they have reminded me that they still like doing them!  Operation cookie baking and decorating is getting underway.  Oh the days of sprinkles all over the floor...or Teddy on top of the table taking a bite out of the gingerbread house!

Getting into the Christmas spirit!

Velle "helped" me spread some decorations around the house.  She kept taking things out of the buckets...it is like having a 2 year old in our home again!
How many teeth and paws can a puppy have that move so fast?
Sitting all regal...her throne of lies...with naughty elves watching from their perch.
My tree decorators had this tree decked out in 15 minutes!  "We need a bigger tree, Mom.  All the ornaments won't fit!"

We helped sing at the City of Wixom Tree Lighting again this year.  We saw Santa and his reindeer!
And then...Ted and I had a real live date!  It has been awhile...we enjoyed dinner and then coffee at the Uptown Coffee place in downtown Howell.  My girly pick was a gingerbread mocha (with half the syrup!) and whipped cream...a taste of Christmas!  Ted enjoyed his manly double-shot of espresso straight up!

I got myself a cup of DD early on Sunday morning as a wake-up after dropping Ted off for another trip out of the country.  Mmmm...the smell of coffee is comforting!
The children's Christmas program on Sunday morning was another one for the books!  A ship down the middle aisle with a crow's nest!

A couple of my students were part of the school of Selfish Elf-fish.  So cute!

The auditorium was very full!  The children sang beautifully!
Naughty dog biting at ornaments and branches!
Sunday afternoon dinner and a movie...it was time for our annual viewing of Elf.
The best way to spread Christmas cheer...singing loud for all to hear!  "Or snoring...right, Mom!  Did you have a good sleep in the chair?"  I slept...but it wasn't good...my neck was sore.
