The days go by so fast!

And just like that the leaves are falling off the trees sos fast!  I sucked up five bags I the front before the cold front moved in with the rain!  Now...I have to get more bags to do the backyard!

Carving a pumpkin at school meant cleaning and soaking the seeds to roast!

Out of 12 students...only 2 didn't like them!  So proud of all of the students for trying them!

Garbage turned to a teaching prop!

My new toy...and it is getting a work out!

Something warm and comforting for dessert!

Harvest Day 2022...I was a mouse again!  Or...actually maybe a rat according to one of my students! Which made me laugh...especially after we caught and killed two little rats at the rental house.  Ewww.

Thank goodness it is Friday!  But then there are three days of Trunk-or-Treats to contend with on Monday and Tuesday!  Heaven help us!

Home to rest for the weekend...

NOT!  We headed through the fog back to the rental again for Saturday!  We are making progress!

No mice or rats this time...just more than we wanted to see roaches!  Time to hit them hard again.   I thought we had won since the bug bombing and major cleaning...but we have some more battles!

The time of year that is colored rust and brown!  Happy November is almost here!

 

When you know

you know but you check to make sure you know that you know...
Uff da!  What a mess!  It pays to know what you know and know what you don't know!

Because if you don't know it will be an expensive thing to replace, you know!?!

Yep...it was confirmed...we had to replace the fridge!  Ouch!

We knew who to call to help us get the new appliance in place.  I think we are still friends!

A little helper knows how to not help!

And just so you know...you need to know if this isn't right...or you will sure find out and then everyone will know!  Yep...the old fridge didn't keep things as cold as they needed to be...so there was some spoilage.  Well...that and the date...but if you didn't read it...whose fault is it exactly?  "What a way to find out!  I dunked my cookie in the milk...because those cookies were hard, you know, and I took a bite...and..."  Alisa and I laughed...we couldn't help it!  "Dad, Mom is only using that milk to make pancakes!"  Poor Ted! "I didn't know...it wasn't marked!"  Oops...between shuffling things around in two fridges, "Well...Ohhhh...we just know!" Now everything is settled and working properly and we are thankful!

But now...the dryer is acting up!  Thankfully...we know a guy...who knows what to check first!

 

From leaves to pumpkins...and everything in between!

We had beautiful weather that caused the trees to glow with beautiful color!  Last week, we had some rain and some snowflakes.  It was quite exciting in K5.  Then we had more beautiful weather.  I had lots of leaves to get up off the yard before rain came!  I did my best before today's rain again...but...there are more left to fall!

We have been having fun in K5 with all things fall!

Date night on Friday with my love who had to field a work call before we met up with a new tenant.  He never ceases to amaze me with all his wisdom and knowledge of many different things!  And...he picks good places to eat!

And he rewards hard work after we spent all day Saturday at the rental house that we are having to clean and paint top to bottom.  We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...two live roaches killed and one (?) squeaking rodent (heard it but didn't see it) around somewhere with a bald spot...he got off the glue trap after enjoying some peanut butter.  The kitchen and bathroom are finally cleaned ceiling to floor and everything in between.

Annnnnd...then this...at our house.  Yep...the fridge has been acting up and we have been monitoring it.  Ted looked at it and then decided we needed an appliance guy to confirm his bad feeling.

"My blood is all over this house!"  Up until now...I knew our sweat and tears were!  Ha!  Now literally...he bled in the fridge and on the floor.  No stitches needed.

We cleaned up the mess and waited for the appliance guy on Tuesday...and now...we will have a new fridge.
I added a new toy to make my life easier and a lot of work longer lasting! 

This week is pumpkin week!  My class was very proud of me for not cutting myself!  "You did a very good job, Mrs. T!"

I love listening to all the exclamations and watching their faces!

"OOOO...cool!"  "I think that stinks!"  "Can we touch it?" 

Meet Greg...the pumkin.  They told Mrs. V that was his name and then they said it was Mr. Spike.  He is a happy pumpkin and he only has one front tooth...because he lost all his others!  "Well, that is how Mrs. T's knife went and so that is our story!  We love him, guys, don't we."  And this is why I love teaching Kindergarten!

 

Fall days in Michigan 2022

It was a beautiful drive to church on Sunday down Maple!  

Plans for lunch with a friend got disrupted by a sick furry friend...so I enjoyed a quiet Monday with a treat..apple cranberry cider.  It is fun to go to Aldi during the fall and winter seasons!  They carry so many fun seasonal treats.  Ashlynn shared an easy recipe...and it was so festive and yummy!  I agreed with her...it is best right out of the oven.

I came home and switched on lights...and they are burning brightly these days!  It is a delight to have Ted home all the time now.  We have been able to have people into our home again for fellowship.  When we take those opportunities, little projects get done!  When I come home from school, I notice things that Ted takes care of when he is taking a break from calls/meetings.  I look at our mantel and I see the word for this year...Delight.  Yes, I am delighting in the small things and trying to remember to be grateful...out loud...for each of those things.

New ideas...I love them!  They keep me fresh as a teacher and my students giggle with glee.  This year's fun project to finish our week of pumpkin fun...storybook pumpkins.  Students get to decorate a pumpkin with their favorite storybook character and bring it in for show and tell.  Big, medium, small...real...or fake pumpkins...I'm so excited to see what they chose to do! 

Cutest class...Picture day!  We practiced our smiles...just kidding!  We promised to smile nicely for our parents!  We are missing two friends this week while they are on family vacations.

I love when my students practice on their own what we are learning in class!  These two were looking at a book together and started calling to me, "We found it!  We found the word we learned today...t-h-e...it's right here...and here too...and here....and here!"  Oh my heart!  

Puppets anyone...."Uhm...guys...you cannot whap each other with those spoon puppets...that is not what they were made for!"

Colored rice is so fun to feel and measure and pour!  We have to take turns and set a timer!

So grateful for the change of seasons!  I love watching each change....but fall is my favorite...still!

Today...October 20...we got our first snowflakes!  My little friends yelled and interrupted our lessons to point it out to me.  We had to stop and just watch for a little bit.  A reminder to this adult...stop!  Slow down! Enjoy the little things in life...listen to the comments of little friends as they savor the little joys in their life...let it bring a smile to your face.

Look up!  And while you do that...remember who gives you the ability to do all the things!  Slow down...and appreciate the gift of today!
