"DADDY'S HOME!"

Every day is the same!  The dogs go crazy when Ted comes home!  There is no way to stop it...and now...he sits down to give tummy rubs instead of using his foot!  She still goes for his feet and ankles...but it is getting better.
Oh my goodness, the noise!
Who doesn't love cuddles?

Silly dog!

I couldn't figure out what she was doing...and then I saw where she was looking.  Her shadow on the wall!

What happens when Mom is working on the computer...

Velle sits at my feet or in her bed.
Oakley wrecks havoc on the house!  She pulled laundry from the basket of folded laundry.  She pulled Velle's bed OUT of her cage.
She bugs Velle.  She chases the TP tube all over...pouncing and barking at it.  She bugs me.  She is forever busy!

You have no choice but to love her...

because she gets all up in your business...doesn't matter who you are!
Poor Velle doesn't have a choice about loving her!

She has a way of knowing who loves puppies!
Oakley loves Velle and wants to always be close to her.  I laugh because they are just like two little girls I once knew...best of friends and worst of enemies.
She loves her food.  She loves to play.  She loves to be right in the middle of everything!

Thankfully...she does have an "off" button that flips about 9:00pm!

I love sharing creative time!

I love to work on making cards.  I enjoy having a space to walk away from and come back to without having to clean up every single time.  I do try to straighten things up when I have guests.
Sloan and I got to make cards on Saturday.  Another friend came on Tuesday and we made a couple cards as we talked and fussed with the dogs.

Cookies for the guys

Teddy said he may stop by...so I made sure there were some fresh cookies baked!  My little sous chef is NOT helpful...instead...she tries to kill me by playing with the rug.  One of these days...she will succeed.
I tell her "NO, NO!" and she runs around and tries to bite at my finger like it is a game.

Keeping things lively!

Oakley is our toddler!  Always causing messes and getting into things.  She has toys spread out all over the house, but yet goes after the shoes, my face, Ted's feet, towels, rugs, clean laundry, toilet paper rolls, and ice cubes.  She did manage to do the llama in after all the years Chica and Velle played with it.  Oakley chewed the plastic eyeballs off and pulled stuffing out.  We had a moment of reflection before I  put the llama in the garbage.  Puppies are not smart enough to NOT eat the plastic parts and the synthetic stuffing.
Sunday night, I was trying to have a chat with her about behaving for the groomer.  This was her response...growling and trying to bite my fingers.
We went Monday morning to meet the groomer at the vet.  We were there for a half hour and Oakley came out all pretty.
No drugs were used.  She did not fight the gal who held her.  She did yip once when they got to her toe nails.  We have a plan to go every couple weeks to hang out with Mrs. Beckie and get used to her house with all the sights and sounds.  "Mom will leave to go to her Bible study and we will be friends!"  I appreciate her help and advice.  And now that she has figured out how to get up on the couch...a whole new world has opened up to her!
Ted left work a little early and we went to Yoders on Monday.  The kitchen was closed for the sandwiches we wanted.  New hours...they now close at 5pm!  We got to get the deli style sandwiches, fresh chips, and a Buckeye to split.  We came home and spent time in the pool and then had our picnic lunch/supper at the dining room table.  It was yummy!
It was so hot and I didn't feel like baking.  I made no-bake cookies for our last ESL class on Tuesday.
Tuesday, Ted and I left early to head to the plant and get set up.  He had executives coming in again and I had class.  The time to start came and went...no students.  Ted went to see what was going on...there was a mandatory meeting...and the HR manager and trainer neglected to inform me.  Bummer!  I was more annoyed to lose our last class than getting up early.  I made my way back home and fed the dogs breakfast.  I caught up on a couple other things and then headed to our first Bible study for the season.
It was such a blessing to be back together and catch up after being off for the summer.  It was the adult version of the first day of school!  The music and the teaching touched my heart.
Our table has gone beyond the Tuesday morning to make time to do lunch together every once in awhile...and we did it this week.  To sit around the table and hear the testimonies of these gals was so encouraging.  God is at work in the messy and hard times of life...in my life...in her life...here and there...near or far...all at the same time!  The care of ladies who are at various life stages ministers in a special way!  God knew I needed this to bolster me through the week.  When we sit with others, we learn to not focus on our life and problems.  When we sit under the teaching of God's Word, we learn how to do life and expect problems.  When we are honest...that life is messy and life is hard...we see that others are covered with the messy and hard too...and we can cry together, pray together, and laugh together.  I am thankful for this season of life.
This little oak branch fell during Wednesday's storm.  I picked it up yesterday and snapped a picture.  We won't always have sunny, beautiful days.  There will be storms...it will get rough and loud...but we need the rain and nitrogen from the lightning...because it promotes growth and prepares us for the next season.
So this morning...we rested in the thought that He holds all things in our life in His almighty hands.  The sun is shining as we look ahead to the weekend.  But first, we will enjoy coffee, time with God, and puppy snuggles.

Rest...it is a good thing!

Anywhere...anytime...anyhow!  Oakley finally got her own self up on the couch using the stool.  Game changer on a couple different levels!  Ha!
Because...when you start the day at 5:30am and were restless off and on all night...you gotta catch up on your beauty sleep!  Dad and Mom?  Well, they can drink coffee!

More proof that it is Ted's fault!

I heard him exclaim again as he walked in after going to the plant for shift change to deal with an issue.
He took time to sit and cuddle after coming home from work the first time!
But no matter what time of day...
or how many times he comes in the house...
it is always the same!  A man and his dog!  I am the feeder and care-giver, but he is who she wants when he is home.

It is Friday...

and we are taking time to rest, check on things around the house, talk on the phone, listen to cooking shows, wash dishes...
water the garden, check on the pool, clean up puppy messes, wash bedding...
and nap...because someone thinks getting up at 5:30am with Dad is too important of an event to miss!  She has been sleepy ever since.

So now you have a picture for when you are asked...

"How was your day?!?"  You can point to Oakley's picture and say, "At least not as bad as Oakley's trip to the groomer!"
Today was her first trip to the groomer.  I had my doubts how it would go.  The gal said she would be fine...a half hour later she brought her out to me.  She had to stop because Oakley was losing her mind and she did not want to cut her.  She asked me to meet her at the vet's office on Monday so she could finish, as her friend who works there will help hold her.  She said she may ask the Doc about something to calm her.  "It's ok!  She is not a lost cause.  I just did the same thing for another dog last week.  We just need to get her used to being groomed and I don't want her to be afraid.  She is a fiesty one!"  Every time I look at her I shake my head.  She smells good and is all soft and fluffy...but looks silly.  Stay tuned to see what happens on Monday.  We will all be surprised, I am sure!

It is Ted's fault!

Every time we come home or when Ted comes in the house...Oakley goes crazy around his feet.  It is dangerous to try and walk and not step on her!  I have been working to get her NOT to do it.  I hear Ted exclaim when he comes in as she bites and scratches at his feet and ankles.  I walked around the corner as he started talking, "Ok, I am sorry.  Here...come here...good girl.  You like that..."  and there he was USING HIS FOOT to rub her belly!
She goes crazy when he stops.  He rubs her belly and she lays still.  OH MY WORD!  I have been swatting her and telling her "NO, NO!"  You keep saying people are going to trip and fall...UH, YEAH, When you keep doing THAT!
It has been three days...she still does it because he still does it.  So...I will post an apology now.  If you come to our house, there is literally a little ankle-biter here.  Enter at your own risk!

Teaching Oakley about the finer things in life!

POPCORN!!!! Yes...she likes it.  But she does just eat the white puffy part!  How do I know this?  I walked across the livingroom floor and felt pokey stuff on the rug...it was the all brown kernal parts!
