and they got to try something new...the cobs of the corn to gnaw on!  They enjoyed them...however...Chica ate the cob and then puked it up....soooo, we will not do that again.

From work to crafting

The face of the landlord that is not thrilled with the way the housing commission handled an issue!  Too much time spent on something that they could have fixed with a click of the computer mouse.  As I sat waiting during the back and forth, all I could think of was what Ted has tried to teach us..."Take immediate action!"  You will not remember when you walk away from situation!  I did not leave till I had confirmation in writing that things were done.  I know I should not be cynical, but it is a government office with a terrible track record.  We shall see if she actually did the job!

Did you say salad buffet?

I have a love-hate relationship with the wildlife in our neighborhood right now!  This is the second time they (deer, rabbit, geese, no idea) have eaten my impatiens in the dark of night.

Before we left on vacation, they were eaten off in the front landscape.  Mom moved them to the back patio and tended to them.  They came back and were actually even bigger this last week than this picture.  I came down Monday morning to see them...gone...again.

 

Well, that went farther than I planned!

The peeling paint came off in sheets.  I had to sand down the blobbed on patchwork...and noticed nothing was sealed correctly...so the moisture was causing the paper behind to peel away.

I talked to our guy in the paint department at Home Depot and he told me what to do...even though they don't sell this stuff there.

The humidity was up and I was nervous how it would dry for the next steps.  Our tenant let me know it was dry this morning...so I am relieved!  Next step is to sand if necessary then prime and paint.  Since this job is on me...my fingers are crossed that I got good advice!

I got a little trap for the drain!  I highly recommend when children live in your home.  Calling a plumber out is expensive!  But if you need help, I can advise before you spend the money.

No breakfast or lunch...I splurged on a mocha ice capp.

 

This Time...We did the job ourselves!

We had a bathroom in one of our properties that needed some attention.  We bought the property last year and have been making a list and a plan.

The work that was done prior to our owning it was not done correctly.

I was the helper girl...handing tools and running to the hardware store for WD 40 when the faucet handles wouldn't budge.

It was time to get it done!  The saw was a little loud in the small space.

We got it demoed.  Then Ted took measurements to do all the cutting and prep of materials at home.

Saturday morning cuddles and pep talks to get this big job done this weekend!

Some sanding to prep the wall.  A dry fit and several "Oh yeahs!"  Such a relief to see all the prep work pay off!

A new tool was very useful! 

Taking Jon's advice and using construction adhesive!

Wow!  What a difference a few hours made!  Kari was on clean-up crew.

God gave beautiful weather!

Got my tool out to deal with a sink issue I noticed...eeek!  

Moving right along...

as I found more fun stuff...

"I got it cleared out! And I will be suggesting a little screen trap for this!"  

So thankful for all the work at home fitting just right!

And now to deal with the peeling paint on the wall...

The finished tub surround.  It looks nice and our tenant is grateful.
