Teddy asked for a tent this morning on the way home from school...a simple request and it has brought him lots of fun in a short amount of time! He does so good each morning and entertains himself so well...all we are missing is a coonskin cap! I guess he needed a break from the computer...he has "worked" on it every day this week...time to play!
It was a very nice day and it ended with beautiful roses from the love of my life! As you get older, birthdays are something to be remembered...as Dad put it, they are more of a memorial than the exciting parties they once were! Thanks, Dad!!!
This past weekend was spent rescuing the boat and patching the roof. The week of rain took its toll on the lake...flooding almost a foot or better...and causing many leaks to be revealed...nothing a shopvac, towels, and fans couldn't take care of. Some people had and still have bigger messes than we experienced! The condition of the dock remains to be seen...cause it was totally submerged and not worth the effort and energy to expend on the guys only day off! (Sunday) The boat is now parked in the driveway of the lakehouse and will remain till next season...sad to say, a little earlier than desired.
We are officially ready for school to start! Alisa passed her physical and the nurse said she "was good for another 100,000 miles"! She didn't even know our Daddy takes care of cars! Alisa looked at her with a funny look...don't worry dear, that means you are doing great!
you end up with very little sleep and are stuck inside all day with children who want to be outside! Our nerves were strained...it is no wonder Daddy was having a meltdown! It was good to get home last night and sleep in a better- insulated-against- sound- house. It rained and rained up at the lake and the forecast is calling for more all week...hope the lakehouse doesn't fill up with too much water! It is hard to fix leaks in the pouring rain...just ask Ted! What memories we have!!!
Mari's baby is growing up...
We were in the final stages of planning our wedding! We made the trip to Michigan for Sean and Becky's special day (15th) got back in time to take care of the final details for our wedding day (18th). It hasn't been that long ago...but at the same time it seems like it was years ago! So many changes have taken place since we said "I DO!"
The kids played downstairs while I tutored this morning and when they came up...they saw the "fun" thing we were doing! So...we got out two more pans and they played in the cornmeal...till Mommy had an idea for a snack!
Measuring, pouring, mixing, and bickering over whose turn it was next...and out came some yummy corn muffins! Of course, we used cornmeal out of the other container!!! And saved what didn't end up on the floor for the next time! We practiced our letters...cause you know...school starts soon.
"Mom, I think we need some more butter!" Uh, no, you used the whole stick...and only four muffins were left out of 24! (I ate a couple too)
Today is the first day in a week that I do not have a horrible headache! I feel like myself again after fighting a summer cold/sinus/allergy...whatever...now I just have an aggravating tickle in my throat. The kind that irritates the people around you because you just have to do a little cough and not a good, real one. Dad knows the kind I am describing!

This picture was taken right before the pleasant look on Alisa's face disappeared. We are having trouble with the teasing (you can tell by the look who is instigating lately) and other sibling normalcies...which leads me to believe that it is time for school to start...separate classes, teachers, friends, building, and etc. The rains of all week and the hot, humid temperatures are enough to try anyone's patient...and then the added strain of boredom: "we did that already"..."when is it my turn on the Powertouch? I looked at the clock and it has been ten hours since she has had it!"..."why do we always have to pick up everything?"..."I don't need to practice reading, I can do it at school"..."when is Daddy coming home?"..."can we have a snack?"..."is it hot again today?"
A big welcome to the newest addition at the Stille house...Sammie! He arrived to help Mari celebrate her birthday...the big 37! Happy puppy training everyone!!! Slobbers and kisses to you....xoxoxoxoxo
We have a couple gals leaving our church to take teaching jobs this week...of course, it is a reason to have a party!!! Here is a peek at what I am giving to each of them. I had a parent do it for me one year and I thought it was a great idea! A survival (or emergency) kit with gum, ibuprofen, mints, hairspray, chapstick, and etc. The more I thought, the more I could have bought! Gotta love the dollar stores and travel sizes at Walmart!
This post is for my father and other lovers of words! My daughter has the same little streak of wrong word usage as I! She asked me if she could call this little notebook her "diarreha". Oh my dear girl...I think you want to call it your "diary". Grammy laughed so hard she cried and I tried not to...yep, Ash is alot like her mother...in many ways!
No cavities for either girl and each bravely marched back to have all the "dental stuff" done! Thank goodness...I still hate going to the dentist and have tried to keep all that to myself and put on a brave front! It makes no sense...all the orthodontic work and such...but it was all the prep work that has forever given me a lack of genuine appreciation for the field! Now the state tells you when you have to take your kids...otherwise, our children might have had to wait till they could drive themselves! Ashlynn went first...last week and this week...was Alisa's turn.
The gals that cared for the girls did a great job and both came skipping out with a fistful of stickers and a new toothbrush...which work very well! Ashlynn was prepping Alisa for her visit today and told her that "they take your teeth out to look at them". For crying out loud...why do children have to tease like that? The look on Alisa's face went from excitement to bewilderment to a flash of fear...then she argued the point most fiercely...of course, she won because Mommy spoke up for her. Nice way to enter the parking lot of the dentist!
