This is how we like to do HOT and STICKY!

I don't mind working with hot and sticky...marshmallows for treats!

I needed a layered look for our Answers In Genesis treat tonight.

We have been enjoying and learning from special lessons for kids by Ken Ham.
We learned a song about fossils.  I grabbed a bag of rocks when we went to visit Grammy and Grampy to use for a special treat.
"Billions of dead things buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth!"
A couple of the kiddos looked at me funny when I told them we were eating rocks tonight.
It made a nice mess...warm weather and chocolate...and sticky rice krispie treats!

This mother's pride and joy...

"Mom, I can play Mary Had A Little Lamb on the recorder...with my nose!"  I can't tell you how proud we are of this!  And how embarassed she will be when she is a senior.

Don't forget...Father's Day is coming!

A father's most honorable work...building his home and family.
A wise man built his house upon a rock (Jesus Christ) ...a foolish builds his house upon the sand (the world)...and when the rain falls, the floods come up, the winds howl, and the waves crash...only one kind of house will stand firm!

95 degrees!

If you look carefully...you can see Alisa is wearing goggles as she swings in and out of the sprinkler.
Our silly kids!

A privilege and an opportunity to serve the Lord

Summer dessert

Sugar cookie crust with a cream cheese and vanilla yogurt spread.  Add any variety of chopped fresh fruit.

Add a stack of freshly borrowed books and movies from the library.

Enjoy!

A cool day gives this Mom a desire to bake!

Cookies made with mini-chocolate chips...

just called for a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

In and out and in and out and...

it is part of the summer that is often endured by every mother.  I KNOW I AM not the only mother that goes bonkers with the continual slamming of the screen door and threatens to lock everyone out.  I tend not to...ok...I am trying not to hyperventilate about this when there are long periods between the in and out process...especially when I over-hear them talking as they look through the stack of photo albums.  "Look at how little we were.  Who is that?  You were so cute.  Look at Mom.  That's not Mom.  Yes...Look at Dad."  Their comments are so funny...except when I heard, "Mom was born in 1969?  Whoa!"
Then they jumped up and headed outside.  I saw them fly by...rollerblades, jumprope, and sister on bike...and thought, "That is an accident waiting to happen!"  Surprisingly...not a scratch...yet!
We are enjoying the flexibility that comes with summer...and the beautiful weather that God has sent our way.

Letting sparks fly...

to celebrate Teddy's birthday...

and Memorial Day!

Daddy was the point man with the lighter.  "Run, Daddy, run!"

"OOOOO....AHHHH!"

"Cool!  Do some more, Daddy!"

"Thank you, Grammy and Grampy!  These are so cool!  That was so much fun!"

The grand finale...and the point man took a bow!

A family fascinated by fire

We started the weekend with a fire to burn off Dad's brush pile.

Dad's fire extinguisher!

Hot dog roast for Sunday night supper.

Hamburgers in the pudgie pie irons for Monday night supper.

Yummo!  The possibilities are endless with these little gadgets.

How high will the flames jump?

There is something calming and mesmerizing about a campfire!

Playing Around

We went for a drive on Monday and found a park.  The kiddos played and the adults sat on the park bench...till we were distracted by action at the river's edge.  A man was fighting to reel in a fish...a huge carp.  It was the most exciting thing going on there...and that is a good thing!

Teddy put together his lego set from Grammy and Grampy...all by himself...following the directions!

And the girls...reminded me of my sister and I...giggling and all.  "Mom, make her get off!  I am going to puke."  It was heart-warming...truly.

It may be just our children...and then...maybe not.  They like to aggravate each other...and they take turns!  But this time...it was Ashlynn...again, "You know you are eating goose tenders, Alisa.  Yep, that is what they serve here at Hardees."  This time...we acted like we didn't hear them...but I think Alisa caught the smile on her Daddy's face...
