Parents at home...alone...in the quiet

Fancy supper one night...I am really are pitiful and let Ted eat leftovers...but we were both happy with our choices!  Ted spoiled me and we did eat out a couple of times.
Time to bake for my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary...a lemon blueberry scone for those lazy, summer kids gone to camp mornings...oh wait...we are all working!  woo hoo!
We had to take care of a vehicle issue...look, Ma, no dash gauges and lights!  Got it fixed!
One day...no work...meant coffee on the patio with my sis!
The rest of the week...spent working...and picking up a few extra hours.
Friday afternoon adventure to Detroit!  We explored Belle Isle...it had been years since I had been there...and I was a little disappointed in how run down it had become.
We rode the People Mover and decided to get off in Greektown...
we ate yummy pizza surrounded by several Detroit Tiger fans on their way to a game...and an out of control bachelorette party.  Just wow!  There are things you ought not to do in a family friendly restaurant. Tacky.
Beautiful evening for a stroll along the Riverwalk and looking across to Canada.

 The Ren Cen...it is massive.
My love and I...reconnecting amid the busy-ness of life...some times...it takes a few minutes to get back in sync and just relax.

Kids at Camp....WILDS 2015

Monday, June 29, 2015

It has been a week of heaviness.

We were reminded this week that love is an action.  We watched one of our church families walk through the valley of the shadow of death with love and grace.  We have been reminded how short life is...for some 52 short years.  We know that God is in control of all things and that no matter what...He loves us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMA!

We sure love our Grammy!  We are looking forward to sharing some birthday fun in a few weeks!

Camp Updates from Facebook 2015

Our teens loaded up on Sunday night and left at midnight to make the twelve hour drive down to the WILDS on our new to us bus!  We are thankful for two of our couples who take the whole week to drive the bus and hang out with our kiddos.  We appreciate the consistent updates via pictures.  We know they are having a great time.
 Breakfast stop...at the Golden Arches!
 One of the first games...
every picture I see...there are smiles.  I know..."Smile for your parents!" but I look at how the smile reaches the eyes...
 even tired eyes...
Alisa celebrated her 13th birthday yesterday!  WOW!  I'm thankful for leaders who made a big deal and had an ice cream gathering to make her feel special.  We have great leaders who really go the extra mile...and good friends to help!
We have been asked several times, "Do you have any special plans while ALL THREE of your kiddos are at camp?"  Ummm...we are working!  And then we come home and crash.  Ted has had a crazy (early) week with training.  Real party animals are we!!!  We had two dinner dates and have an outing planned for Friday exploring Detroit.  The house is quiet and Chevy is lonely.  We look forward to hearing all the details about this special week!

Church camping 2015 at Myers Lake

We brought along 3 extra teenagers with us...and they entertained me on the 43 minute trip to the campground.  They even consoled me as we drove through pouring rain...the weather forecast had not been looking very promising for the last week.
We drove out of the rain and set up camp in dry weather.  All the kids took off and the mothers sat enjoying the quiet.

Supper around the fire...and then the rain moved in and everyone gathered under the tent to talk, game, and sing.
The cutest little voices called across the campground, "Pastor...Hey Pastor!"  Such a fun time to spend with families that we see all the time...just don't always have time to sit and visit with during the week.
The rain stopped for Thursday night and held off till 6:30am...and it poured for a couple hours.  God parted the storm...some went to the north and some to the south...and we stayed dry but cool all day Friday.  We were so thankful!
I shared a treat with the mint loving girls!
 Games...
 Food...
 Laughter...singing...praising...
and our whole group wishing Ashlynn a very Happy Birthday!
It was a special day spent with special people!
I always like the extra time to talk with friends...and my sis!  A beautiful campground setting to share with experienced campers and some first time campers!

Summer in Michigan

Happy 14th Birthday, Ashlynn!

She didn't want anyone to know that it was her birthday!  Can you imagine?  Ted and I fixed that!  We bought a hot pink tablecloth and brownie mixes on our camping grocery shopping date.  Alisa baked the brownies while Ash was gone the other day and we packed them and candles without her knowing.  I went to the store on Friday and got balloons and ring pops to go with a bag of teenage girl birthday goodies.  She walked up to the table on Friday afternoon..."You got these...for me!?"  Yes!!!  Ted joined us after work and brought Mint Oreos and Birthday cake Oreos to share too.  I think she has forgiven us for letting everyone celebrate with her!!!

Ted's Adventures continue...stateside this time!

Fun in summer daycare

We have Buzz Lightyears from around the world!
Ooey Gooey Day...playing with shaving cream and animals

Summer Vacation 2015

We spent our week of family vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  It was beautiful!  It was relaxing!  It was cool!  It was just what we needed!
More pictures coming!
