We didn't sleep in as long as we thought we would! There was a super loud bird outside our bedroom window that was fully awake and happy at 7:00am! We fixed a cup of coffee and sat out on the deck watching the neighborhood wakeup. Oh this is a glorious way to begin summer vacation!
A little work for Ted. A little music. A new pastry treat to go with our coffee.
We walked next door to Dan's Cafe Deluxe. As we walked in, one of the waitresses said to another waitress at the counter, "The Classico Gringo." I did a sideways look and thought, "Wow! Do we really look like tourists?" And to myself I said, "Some Americans know Spanish!" The girl smiled at us and seated us and handed us a menu. The menu was in Spanish and English...and wouldn't you know...one of the choices is called "The Classico Gringo"! We laughed till we cried! The waitresses were communicating about the ticket that needed to go to the table behind us...making sure it was the correct order to be charged. It became the joke of our trip!
Fresh squeezed orange juice! Oh it is so yummy!
Authentic Mexican breakfast! Served with red sauce and tortillas.
We walked a little after breakfast and then headed back to rest and change to go the little pool!
Ted gave me a mini Spanish lesson to help me remember what I have already learned...so I can make it here! There is less English speaking here than in Puerto Vallarta!
We took a taxi to the bigger grocery store. We knew to bring our masks with us for just in case instances...the grocery store is still requiring it and there is a guard to remind you and give you a squeeze of hand sanitizer!
An escalator...into the store! The other side coming down is just a belt so you can take a cart down...but wow...you have to be strong to hold on to it if it is loaded! We knew to bring our own bags...so Ted had his backpack which we had to check.
It is truly an experience! Fresh baked rolls for sandwiches. Lesson learned...only buy what you will eat in two days...or they go hard!
Toilet paper...NO PROBLEM! Infant formula...NO PROBLEM!
We stopped at the Farmacia across the street so Ted could get some medications...that come from North Carolina...that the USA charges us over $400 for...Ted got them for between $20-$40. Yah...what is wrong with this picture?!?
A simple lunch up on the rooftop deck...
We were so hot after our excursion...and the breeze was beautiful!
We rested and waited till the sun was going down...
and found some energy to walk down to the Playa Zicatela for supper.
Fish tacos at Flori Taos on the beach! Oh my was it good!
We sat and ate and enjoyed the ambiance of night life!
And we were psyching ourselves up for the walk back up the steep streets. "You know...something I've noticed about Mexico...you are always wet! If you move...you are wet with sweat because of the heat and humidity. If you go to the beach or pool...you have to get wet because the sun is so hot. If you want to go to bed...you have to shower in order to cool down and sleep."
And...oh does it feel good to sleep anytime you want! The place we are staying is cool and the bed is so comfy!
