Sweetheart Banquet
We went to the Sweetheart Banquet last night and had a lovely time! We sat with a couple who has been married 43 years and another couple married for 23 years. "You'll catch up!" they said. It was a fun night of food, fellowship, and laughter! We won a prize for Ted's "dramatic interpretation" of a love poem to me...followed by a big kiss...gasp...in front of everyone.
The decorations were so pretty...and good to eat. Dinner was yummy and served up nicely by some delightful teenagers! Our youth pastor and his wife did a wonderful job. The love songs were beautiful. The games funny.
And our pastor gave a wonderful challenge...love is giving...Christ is our perfect example!

"We make a great team!"
Ted tells me this all the time. I usually just smile at the compliment...but some days...my heart is overwhelmed by his words. Those words carry so much meaning and love as every year passes. I look back over the recent years and know for certain that I wouldn't want anyone else on my team! Marriage isn't a competition...it is hard work! It takes commitment! There are really hard times. There are times that are easier. We have such sweet memories together even in the midst of those really hard times...and all I can do is sit here with grateful tears streaming down my face. God has blessed my life with a wonderful husband...love..friend...teammate. I love you, Ted! You are a blessing to me and our children have someone to look up to and follow!
He is the brains behind many of our operations! Figuring, planning, building, re-figuring, tweaking...
a man who has become more flexible and comfortable with Plan B, C, or D with age.
I am the creative touch who finds the way to make the re-figuring and tweaking work. We use what we have to fabricate the parts needed for the plan. A walk around the house can be very helpful! **I can't help but add...all those things I find...in boxes, at the thrift, on the side of the road...do come in handy! Love you, honey!**
Brains...mathematical calculations...questions to the right people...
Creativity...dollar store...a hot glue gun...
Ready to assemble and check the weights...everything marked for each car and carefully set in the box. This is a serious business! The cars look cool! We will post pictures of the finished cars later this week. Now...to wait and see how they will perform on Saturday.

My early Valentine Day date night...
included a delicious meal at Tomato Brothers and a trip to the outlet store! Ted was right...the breadsticks and cheesebutter were "out of the world". He had been taken to this place by suppliers for lunch one day and wanted to share it with me. He warned me...so I got "Michigan's best Greek salad"
while he brought most of his entree home! Fresh, hot-buttered, garlicky breadsticks are hard to resist. I am thankful for the things...and the time that we get to share!

"A snow day? It is sunny out...now!"
When there are good helpers to clean off the van and shovel a path...of course we can make it over to cousin's house to hang out on a snow day!
Girls doing girly stuff...
Boys doing boy stuff...
eating pizza...
snowmobiling...
a fun snow day in the Mitten state!

Ahhhh...another snow day!
Ted and I were up early...doing our normal get-ready-for-the-day routine. He came in from shoveling and as I stepped out of the shower, he passed on some interesting information...NO SCHOOL TODAY! Huh?! Really?! Cool! Back into comfy jammies, cup of coffee, and time to spend with Ted before he headed off to work...the sound of waking children in the background. Ted has left for work covered with prayer for safety on I-96 west bound...and I climbed back into bed...but not to sleep! Ahhhh...these unexpected days that are off routine are fun. Now to find something fun to make/bake for children who will play out in the snow...sometime...later...
A yummy after school treat...
brought to us via pinterest, yet again! I didn't cheat...I cut up the apples and cooked them up, added applesauce (to stretch it and for dipping ease), added spices, and served it warm. The taste of apple pie without all the work on a crust! We knew the tortillas were toasted good enough, because the smoke alarm kept going off...hot sugar does that at an oven temp of 425...in a trailer...my new timer/reminder!

Gone are the cracked plastic storage drawers!
I've been looking for awhile. I found one, but didn't buy it. Went back, and it was gone. Looked again...bought it right on the spot. Fits in the diningroom perfectly...no more junked up cluttered mess...everything tucked away nice and neat. Patience and persistance...amid a different living space. Ted noticed the minute he walked in the door. "Salvation Army? You knew what you were looking for! Who carried it in?" I did. I took out the drawers and muscled it in...I wanted it in place when everyone came home! "Nice. When you make up your mind to do something...you can get it done! Does it work for you?" Yes, and all nine drawers are full. I looked at a smaller dresser..."But, trust me, Mom, you NEEDED all 9 drawers! I know, I helped her fill them!" Alisa interrupted. "You are going to paint it, right?" Oh yes...but that is a warm weather project! Paint can fix an ugly dresser! Now...what color?

Stamping Night with Friends
Just a minute, the coffee is almost ready!
All set and ready to go...
4 different tables with a total of 12 different projects...music...candy...chocolate...
When you tell friends to bring their favorite snacks...it is a great thing!
What a fun night! And we sisters got to do it together! Now our girlies want a party just like it for their age group!

She caught me!
While I was helping Ashlynn with her hair Sunday morning, Ted pointed out that she is now as tall as I am. What happened to the little pumpkin with the piggy tails?

February 1st...already!
Snapshots of our week...
Working on the January project...stories with illustrations.
Mom got back into the groove...finally! Thanks to pinterest once again...pizza boats, but Ted pointed out that they looked more like inner-tubes. Ha ha ha ha...he's right!
One guess what Mari and I have been doing this week...shopping? yeah stamping? yes making a mess? exactly!
Got our ideas and pulling it all together...for Monday night fun!
Teddy practicing his recorder. Thankfully...this week...he has two notes.
Alisa got to bring home the clarinet she has been learning in band. She played her two or three notes...or stepped on a duck or two...not sure which.
