We packed up and headed south listening to music and messages with the goal to get back to spend some quality time with Teddy and Alisa.
We pulled into the driveway as Teddy was getting ready to weed-whip after mowing. "I miss mowing and doing that stuff." Everything looked so nice...and while we caught up on the week...I put out the sunflowers!
We went for a late lunch early supper at Burrito King and then spent the evening going over life things. How sweet it is to be with our grown-up kiddos!
I think it did Ted's heart good to have his boy around for a little while to do guy stuff!
"You know it's serious when Dad turns his hat backwards!" observed Alisa.
Taking turns!
I love my boy! I love watching him. I love listening to what he has to say. I'm thankful for the time he gave to come see us for a little bit before he starts his next chapter....August 22 new job at Hiller as he learns the HVAC trade. God has been good to lead him each step of the way.

Saturday excursion
After spending time with Denny and Cheryl, I was inspired to get some sunflowers for the porch like she had! They told us about Dollar Daze in Houghton Lake and told Ted he needed to take me! Ha! We stopped at a really neat Amish furniture place first. So many cool pieces! And then...Oh...my...word...Ted stopped at Arnie's for me too and even went in with me! Bonus...it was like five stores connected!
There were comfy chairs right as we walked in...so Ted sat down and I meandered...realizing how many different places were in this one store. Ted found me..."Do I get credit for seven stops in one stop?"
YES! I won't make you go into any more! You can wait in the car for me...it's ok! BUT...he came into Dollar Daze with me...because it is also very unique and very overwhelming...and paid for my big bundle of sunflowers!
Then...we were deciding what to do for supper...and I suggested the pasty place! "Don't you remember this place...we have been here with the kids after the long kayak day and on the way home another time." He did not. But he willingly drove back down the other way and we picked up supper and went back to the cabin.
It was so chilly but we ate the piping hot, fresh pasties on the deck before giving up and going into the warmth of the cabin.
Up north checklist is complete!
*fishing
*campfire
*Cops and Doughnuts
*saw a deer and turkeys
*coffee on the deck
*pasties
*lots of sleep
*fun shops
*friends

Friday fun
So...you can teach old dogs new things! If you make eggs each day and give them some too...they will expect it every day! Ted had an audience each morning...technically...almost afternoon...whether he liked it or not!
But he loved on them equally...
Afternoon on the deck...again...
Then we took a drive to Clare to go to Cops and Doughnuts! It was a beautiful day for a drive and a little walk.
As we drove back to the cabin, Ted got a text from a co-worker who has a cabin up north wanting to know if we brought our four-wheeler. We did not. He told us we should stop by...we felt this was an important thing for us to do...so we went and let the dogs out and headed to their place about fifteen minutes down the road.
What a beautiful place! The setting is so neat up on the hill. They showed us all around and then we sat and enjoyed the deck.
Her flowers are gorgeous and I want to remember to do coleus next year! I had never met them..but have heard about them from Ted from his work relationship and from Teddy. Denny is the guy who let Teddy get his senior pictures with his cool cars! Cheryl is battling cancer and has one more treatment left.
They enjoyed having us there and sharing their life with us. It is always fun to see how people spend their time and talents.
They took us on a ride in the razor all around the neighborhood and to see how close they are to the trails. We girls got to ride in the back. It was such a gorgeous afternoon/evening!
A perfect night to share a campfire too! I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Denny and Cheryl. They want us to come again...and I really feel like they mean it! Ted's work dealings have been a testimony to Denny...and continue to be now. I was reminded...always take opportunities that God sends your way to build relationships.

Thursday...another day of rest
Ted went for a walk...by himself. I brought the dogs inside...Velle wanted to watch for him...but couldn't see him. She sat on the bench till he came back!
Conversations on the deck...I love listening to him talk to others! God has gifted him with wisdom...that often comes as a result of hard things that he has had to do or endure.
More treats...
More cuddles and rest...we got chilly outside and had to come inside to warm up!
Wednesday on the deck...all day!
I started with morning coffee on the deck...as the dogs took care of neighborhood watch!
Morning devotions in the morning light...
Kari getting ready to do a little crafty magic...
Trying to do some listening and learning...
Water-coloring is a very relaxing thing to do!
"Do you love me?" What are you doing now? "Taking a memory!"
Up down....up down....up down..."oh my get off me! Sit or lay on the rug or in the yard...go play..." Yep...just like when the kids were little! Oof!
Yep...he still loves me...even when I take pictures. I want to soak up these days together...and remember them!
