I baked as I waited to hear how I could help! Some fun fall cookies for supper for some special children. Oops...I forgot to take pictures of the finished product.
I monitored my phone. The plan for helping changed multiple times throughout the day as hospital time dictated plans. Finally, I knew my part was to spend the night with children and puppies. They kept me company after bedtime routines as I did some dishes and laundry as I monitored messages. MRI and CT scans and meetings with the team of doctors brought hourly updates...which meant not much sleep as prayers consumed the minutes in between messages.
I played music all night long. Children were surprised to see me in the morning! Miss W read to me since she was the first one up and had homework to finish. God used her reading assignment to help her focus on "Casting all your care upon Him...for He careth for you!" What wonderful timing for this truth in the lives of all of us!
Children who get up early and have been taught a routine have extra time to relax and wake-up!
A calm, quiet morning...and I just was there...to drive everyone to school! I never knew how exciting it was to ride in a mini-van...with Mrs. T!
I stopped at home to shower and get ready for the day, found a cup of coffee, and landed in K5 to do some required observations. The room looks so different. The students were so excited to have a visitor. The teacher is doing such a good job with them. My heart was encouraged.
I thanked the Lord that I was on school property for a couple hours if the littles I was caring for needed anything. God is always at work and it hit me as I sat and listened to story time. I watched and listened to class. I walked around and gave hearts around good writing. That was very exciting..."a heart from Mrs. T and a sticker from Miss L!"
Miss L has some neat tools she uses! I learn from her each time I observe her too! I got lots of hugs from my friends...co-workers who miss me. My heart was touched by their words of love and appreciation. "Kari is here! I love this! You are so missed."
We ended the day with volleyball games and the expected return of parents with answers that we were not expecting but we know God is in control! We are gathering around this precious family to help them go through the hard time of radiation on Momma's head.
Alisa was my sidekick for the game and home delivery. She helped supervise a couple things as I made supper. Pizza pasta was the throw together supper for a big win! How sweet it was for parents to walk in to peace and calm and happy children! What a blessing they have all been to me!
God keeps sending reminders of how He can use us if we are listening and available! When Monday started...I had no idea of all the twists and turns the day would make! Ted was part of all the plan and we both fell into bed on Tuesday night exhausted. "I didn't sleep much...I couldn't...this was pretty heavy and scary...and it is not over." How thankful we are for a God who loves and hears our pleas for grace and strength for each day!
