July 13 Heading back to the US

Breakfast on the screened in porch at 8:30am at the Bamboleo Inn.
Across the yard...across the street...in the field...there were big, lizard-type things moving that had ringed tails.  It was too hard to see from where we were...but there were several of them making their way toward the road.  I asked our host what it was.  "Oh, those are iguanas!  They come for the mangoes.  There are 3 to 4 foot iguanas out there...we have a 5 foot one around here..." he paused to look out in the yard, "I don't see him this morning."  AHHHH, ok, wow!

Coffee and fresh mango and papaya!
An authentic Belizean breakfast...scrambled eggs with cheese, refried beans, ham, and fry jacks (like pita bread).
Everything was tasty.  We took some of everything on our plate and put it on/in the fry jack.

Our Sunday morning looked very different...but we had time to listen to good music, read God's Words, and talk about it before we headed to the airport.
"Are you ready for this day?"  Ready or not!  It is going to be a long one...we are already getting alerts about delays!
Mangos galore hanging in that tree!

We stayed about 10 minutes away from the airport.

We were sipping the last of our drinks.  We had to leave a jug of water and another bottle behind.  We were well hydrated.
We got all checked in...and were up to a two hour delay.  "Good thing these seats are comfortable! And there are lots of people to watch!"  The Belize airport had several shops and food places.  It was a busy place, so the time really did go by fast.

He was impressed by the seating so got down and made a pattern.
Yummy frozen slushie drink.
Always working and planning...he works hard even on vacation.

Lots a people dealing with delays!
Fianlly...we walked out to our plane!  They got us loaded fast...they used the front and back doors!
"Are we happy to be going home?"  Yes...but it is going to be a late night/early morning...not what we had planned.
Love watching the clouds from the plane!
Well...made it to Dallas...and got hit with more delays...in 20 minute increments.  The Immigration and TSA lines were so long we were wondering if we would even get on our flight.  Thankfully, our gate was right outside the TSA checkpoint and as we walked up...there was no gate attendant and lots of people waiting!  Not a good sign of what was coming.  We sat and waited and heard multiple announcements about a crew coming...not much longer...ya da ya da.  Then the crew was there...but the gate agent had gone to help somewhere else...finally we got on board...
and were rolling down the runway as the pilot let us know we would be landing at DTW at 2:06am
God put several interruptions in our day...for a reason.
I don't know why.  I know Ted had to go to work and asked God to protect him and give him strength.  Maybe next time we will plan a buffer day.  The full moon...the clouds...the safe flight...were all under God's watchful eye!
We made it to our car and then to our beds by 3:15am!   The dogs were happy...crazy...to see us.
