It's m...e...l...ting!

Update: Thursday's picture of the same area...spring is making its mark...slowly but surely!
With record amounts of snow and ice this year...we in this midwest state are so glad to see, hear, and feel the signs of spring! We are in the middle of a heat wave...finally...mid 40s!!!

"Whatcha Doing, Mom?"

Putting to use some of the pent up creativity...with the inspiration from friends and the need to get busy...our ladies spring banquet is coming soon...the theme is chocolate! How fun is that!? So...I am figuring out little favors and color schemes and chocolate sayings to sweeten the time up! The colors are pinks and browns...what is not to love about chocolate? How much more girly can we get?! Enjoying the simple...sweet pleasures that God sends our way...family, friends, and chocolate!

Saturday Fun...two + hours worth!

We made a new batch of play dough and the kids went to work! It sounded like a cooking show actually! They were explaining what they were making and laying it all out "to show". They played for over 2 hours, swept up the crumbs, and put everything away. What good little children!
I had some fun too! I went stamping to make all sorts of birthday cards and got some super cute ideas! It is always fun to be with "big girls" and stamp and eat chocolates and drink coffee. Got a neat idea for binder clips...two are in the picture...can you spot them? I was so inspired, while the kids did play dough, I played with my stamps!

All in a day's work

Folding the laundry and listening to the kids play...the other day it was the "yucky game" Operation. Teddy is a good supervisor and checking to see "did ya get it?" "Yep, and I only made it zeep two times!" (Three zeeps and it moves to the next player...our rules.) A zeep is a cross between a beep and a buzz for all you word lovers! Ha

A treat from a friend...

I have the sweetest friend who knows how to be a blessing...she will still be my friend even though I am not right sometimes! I need to give credit to her too...she has the neatest crafty ideas and books and stamps and thoughtful little gifts...they are often used to inspire me!
Gone...yep, all gone! And I did share it with Ted...however, I ate most of it...he went for the nightly cookies and milk...bless him!!! This was to be a four serving box...with xxx calories per serving...yeah, well I enjoyed all xxxx calories minus the xx calories that Ted ate. Can I say...I don't even care!? I just won't have anything but healthy food today! Ha ha ah ah ha ha ha, yeah right! Next week, I will care and I will be sad...but not today...that's how women are! Sad, but true!

We've got power and water!

The electrical has been run for the new bathroom with the added bonus of a new light over my craft table!!! I can have friends over to stamp and we can see what we are doing!
There are also many feet/inches? of new piping for the water lines...one area being the washing machine! Other pictures would reveal too many dust bunnies and cobwebs...so trust me when I say...it is all done. On to the next step...drywall? toilet set? sink placed?

Not gonna make it to the Olympics!

Just an update on the "driverink conditions"...it is thick and not melting fast enough! The surface is still clear and slick...but now has grooves and ruts. I decided I didn't want to be an ice-skating coach anymore and went out to chop ice. Very good for a mother to do after a ride home from school with two crabby kids and one who just wanted to be left alone! I am sure it was good for my muscles, but tonight my husband will not feel any strength in the hug he gets! Ice melt doesn't work...too thick and there was only a handful or two in the bucket. My neighbor said "good luck in finding any right now...the store I was at said there isn't any anywhere...it is stuck on a barge on the Mississippi River." I had to laugh...'cause most likely...it is frozen in the middle of the river! So if you come to my house...strap on the iceskates or park in the street and come to the front door!

Statewide Driveway Skating Competition Training Begun...

Our local "driverink" has been polished to a perfect sheen of clear, glare ice. Local walkers to the van have been busy practicing their best moves. Contestant 03 has perfected the double no-handed slide to the behind after four falls. Contestant 02 has mastered the single toe-to-knee slide while looking backwards. Contestant 01 continues to skate on thin ice while doing the penguin shuffle. We are in need of some artistic expression...all we got is tears right now. We could also use some help with our choreography...not so graceful. The best example for all contestants is their mother...who can only do the right foot point, slide, backside sit without a spin...only if there is rain sitting atop the ice. The father continues to show us all up even when gliding down said driverink with garbage can props. We continue our search for the perfect piece of music...to the which we can all glide gracefully. Any suggestions should not contain: 1. words...as this blows any concentration 2. rhythm or beat whatsoever...involuntary jerks could cause serious injury 3. startling intros or endings...again, refer to number 2.

Runaway circus elephants...

Elephants do not tiptoe! I have proof...the basement ceiling is shaking as I check emails and the school web page.
Three quarters of the way done for school year 2007-2008! Whooppee!!!
Elephants love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...we have gone through three jars so far this school year!
Elephants do homework! Elephants can be quiet...or I will sit on them!

Through the cabinet glass...

As I sat this morning in the livingroom, my gaze was drawn to the Gram's china cabinet, now ours. Many of the things were given to me as gifts and some came from Mom and Gram. Pretty cups, saucers, candy dishes, candlesticks, pitchers, bowls...all sitting there...waiting to be used...used at one time or another...used for good purposes...used for the hostess' pleasure...washed and dried...and lovingly set aside...for now...till the hostess has another reason and purpose to bring them out. Like this life...

Another picture for...When a boy lives at your house...

beds are not just for sleeping! And they come in all makes and models of vehicles! Caden's daddy built him a fire truck bed! Safe and comfortable...all in one!

When a boy lives at your house...

any place can be a parking garage, parking lot, road, and driveway! It is just part of our decor now days...at least they are not in the middle of the floor! The littler they are...the harder to see while carrying a laundry basket...the more they hurt! And I suppose...the harder I could fall! Happy Monday...and a word to the wise...watch where you step!
