"If I only had a brain!"
Teddy finally was able to answer a question that we have been curious about for a long time! He was sitting on my lap this morning (because we have a snow day! with real live snow!) with his flashlight (he is a gadget man!). He was "shining" my hair, skin, ears, etc. "Mom, your ears are very clean." Well, I hope so son, I try to keep clean! Do you see anything in there? "No, Mom...nothing." Well, what about my brain? "Nope, I don't see anything!" Relief...there is a reason for some of the stupid things I do...no brain! Thanks, son!

Perspective...the thought that lingers...
My cousin has a knack for making the cutest paintings using Scripture and quotes. Her most recent (check her blogspot) keeps coming to mind at the oddest times! I know my perspective gets all out of whack some days! But what person doesn't have that trouble? God knew that when He "penned" many passages of Scripture for us to meditate on!!! I looked at my coffee cup the other day and thought about how my perspective really colors the activities of my day...and some days...it ain't pretty! Thank the Lord for bestowing on His children the Holy Spirit! It is through the little things of my day that I am being reminded to act, think, and speak as God has showed me in His Word. I am now trying to take the time to stop and look at these things (and yes, even take pictures as reminders!) and think before I ACT or REACT. Do you know? That many times I do not do it under the Holy Spirit's control!? And who are the witnesses? My children...my goodness, I wouldn't want my husband to see me not handle things right...uh, umm.
My cup is full of many things that I don't deserve...and one of those blessings is my family. I get so frustrated by the "dailyness" of being a mother, that often I don't even stop to say "Thank you for my family and the privilege of being a mother!"
Instead of seeing my cup of coffee being cold, "Thank you, Lord, for the modern convenience of a microwave to warm it up and the chance to take care of the concern of my son and daughters...because they were more important right then!"

Please join us for the Saturday morning service of LGBC already in progress..
LGBC (Little Girls Baptist Church), is located in the heart of our country. All are not welcome...especially if you are a cap-gun toting little boy, pirate, indian, fireman...or other such nuisance. We practice making a joyful noise and believe in the loose translation of scripture. If you are naughty, you will be disciplined by the preacher/teacher/songleader. Services go for as long as the members see fit...interruptions can cause early dismissal. Dress is required but not mandated by fashion experts.

"Cold Day" Progress on Wednesday
Teddy helped Papa by holding the wheelbarrow while concrete was being mixed. The haze is the dust that was floating around the basement...choke, cough, gag.
"Uncle Jon"...boy, is he a good smoother!? Huh, Teddy!?
While the men work...the girls were busy doing their "usual" activities...Ash taught school to her class of babies and animals...and sister...when she wasn't busy "bothering" Chevy!
Perspective
My friend sent this to me the other day and it has had me thinking ever since:
Mud Puddles and Dandelions
When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard. My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.
When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.
When I hear music I love, I know I...can carry a tune and sit and listen and harmonize. My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own...or hum as loud as they can.
When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.
When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that. My kids say, "Hi, God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."
When I see a mud puddle, I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. My kids walk and jump through it...sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with...stick boats to float.
I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!
"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize...they were the big things!"
Just a reminder about the important things in life...I wish you mud puddles and dandelions!
(I changed a couple words to fit us and added a couple extras that they do.)

What is the breakfast of champions?
It is cold...and a good day for Coco Wheats! Does that send you on a trip down memory lane?I bought a box of Coco Wheats and Cream of Wheat...hoping to add some more variety to our breakfast choices. The three amigoes have collectively refused the oatmeal option lately. How many pancakes and waffles and french toast will they consume before they turn their nose up at those choices? And how many bottles of syrup will each of them consume in a year? That can't be good!? Eggs...that is like a swear word to them! sigh But given the choice of cereal...now that is an award winner! I know you are thinking of all the sugar varieties...but no! We are a Cheerios, Rice Krispies, corn Chex, or rice Chex loving family! They like to mix the choices and if there are some frosted flakes to add to the mix...all the better! Daddy "fixed" Teddy cereal one time the way Daddy eats his cereal...now the boy won't eat anything that is not 2 to 3 varieties mixed! (Reminds me of stays with Gram...she mixed the remains of different cereals into her Tupperware container...her "conglomeration" never appealed to me and still doesn't to this day!) I have to accept that my breakfast choices won't always appeal to my children either! So hence, the search is on for more offerings to make "the most important meal of the day" more appealing and helpful to their little bodies and brains. The battle comes whenever something new and different is presented...they "automatically don't like it" before they try it! Is this the way to start out a day? I think not!
So goes this mother's ever-growing list of questions, thoughts, plans, frustrations...

Snow...again!?
All this snow has melted in the last two days...now the wind has changed and is bringing with it... winter...again. What else should I expect? It is January! We are still waiting for the fever to subside and sleep to return to the ailing child. The make-up work continues to stack up! A snow day would help ease that load!
We are thankful for our nice warm house and fuzzy blankets! Our poor Daddy will still be required to go out and about in the wintery mix...we know he will make it home to us...because he has a plow and 4-wheel drive!

Sickness takes down one...is this round 3?
How comfortable can she get? Ash is down with a high fever and cold that settled in her eyes on Saturday. She and I stayed in yesterday, and now again today...tomorrow isn't looking good either! The eye is better but the fever still lingers...now the coughing has begun. I am sad, this means I miss my class this morning! (One of the reasons I hate to commit to or join anything at this point and time in my life! I have to be a mother...first!)
Friday night's favorite game...for now
